Too Sexy for Their Hat

After winning the World Championship in 1985, the Royals decided that the following season, they would have their players pose at Glamour Shots for the team yearbook. These photos are the hilarious result.

After failing to land the role of Stan Gable in the film "Revenge of the Nerds", Bret Saberhagen turned to baseball and ended up winning the 1985 Cy Young and World Series MVP. For those of you over the age of 30, you'll be surprised to learn that this look is actually cool again. I'm not kidding.

This is the only known picture of Hal McRae smiling. And he actually looks kinda pissed off to tell you the truth. This photo was rejected for a United Colors of Benetton ad. Let me stress again, these are not photos for JC Penny's. These are from the 1986 Royals Yearbook!

No, this isn't a headshot for the role of "Drug Kingpin #1" on Miami Vice. Its Royals shortstop Angel Salazar. The thin whispy moustache says ".266 OBA", but the eyes say ".326 SLG".

This is why George is a Hall of Famer. Can you see Jim Rice pulling this off? Could Andre Dawson wear pink? George is clutch, even in the sleeveless sweater.

I'm sorry, but this one cracks me up. Ladies! If you dig the "Andy Sipowicz" look, give ol' Steve Balboni a try! They call him "Bye Bye" Balboni, but if you play your cards right, you won't be saying Bye-Bye til the next morning!

Few know that in the off-season, Charlie Leibrandt hosted a PBS show on oil painting. He was also the last Major Leaguer to perm his hair.

Damn, Jorge Orta is one handsome man! He looks good enough to be in a Colt .45 ad!
